Building a Foundation for Success

Linda, Lucky, and Risper are continuing their education and training!

Lucky is attending heavy machinery school in Thika, an hour drive away from the orphanage. Risper is attending the Co-Operative University of Kenya to study Social Work and Community Development. Linda is attending Kenyatta University to earn a Bachelor of Education degree in Library Sciences.

An Orphan’s Dream is ending the poverty cycle by helping the children develop important life skills and assisting in finding higher education opportunities that will help them secure the job of their dreams!

Donate to the Claire Putnicki Memorial Fund

Claire Putnicki was one of our Founder member and a long serving Board member of An Orphan's Dream. She passed away on October 5th, 2020. Claire will be remembered not only for being the wife of our immediate former President at An Orphan's Dream, Paul Putnicki, and the mother to our Vice President, Amy Heymans, but as the indefatigable, charismatic powerhouse who loved our mission and was behind our great success in sponsorship endeavor that has brought our home for the children, The Oasis Of Peace Village, in Embu, Kenya what it is today. A donation in her name will help us to continue the mission of An Orphan’s Dream, the organization her efforts helped to thrive. Thank you to all who have already donated.

In Memory of Claire Putnicki

Claire Putnicki was one of our Founder member and a long serving Board member of An Orphan's Dream. She passed away on October 5th, 2020. Claire will be remembered not only for being the wife of our immediate former President at An Orphan's Dream, Paul Putnicki, and the mother to our Vice President, Amy Heymans, but as the indefatigable, charismatic powerhouse who loved our mission and was behind our great success in sponsorship endeavor that has brought our home for the children, The Oasis Of Peace Village, in Embu, Kenya what it is today.

When the management of Oasis of Peace found out about Claire’s cancer diagnosis, the planted a beautiful flower shrub on the grounds in her honor and sang her a song and when they learned of her passing they conducted a candle light vigil in her honor. This is a testament fo the big love that so many had for her. Her love for family, close and extended, near and far, was a priority, and clearly manifested by the way she built the sponsors base who regularly attended our annual Fundraiser event.  Her place in the organization will be too hard to fill.

Please remember the family in prayers and encouragement at this time, as we commend Claire's soul to Rest In eternal Peace.

COVID Update

COVID-19 Update

COVID-19 Update

Schools in Kenya are closed but we are staying healthy and keeping busy!

Everyone is healthy at Oasis of Peace and there are no cases in Gachoka, thank goodness! The children are home from school and are staying isolated with us as schools in Kenya have closed until January. We are looking for a tutor for the high school students to keep them engaged in their learning. such that they do not lose any ground.

Everyone is doing their best to keep busy by engaging in many activities in the house: learning to cook, working on the farm, exploring new skills, and working on favorite hobbies.

Kenya is experiencing an increase in the cost of food due to supply issues. That combined with the fact that the children are not eating at school because they are home has lead to our food costs increasing.

Even a small donation of $25 dollars would help us with the increased food and tutoring costs such ensuring that we can successfully make it through this crisis.

Be the change that will transform a life.

Be the change that will transform a life.

Our big dreams are fueled by your big generosity.

A big thank you to all of our sponsors and donors. You make these children’s dreams come true every day.

Sponsorship contributions fund education, food, clothing, health and other essential needs. The full cost of sponsoring a child at Oasis of Peace for one year is $2,100 per year or $175 per month.

There are many children at Oasis of Peace who are in need of sponsorship. Please consider sponsoring a child and please share this message with your friends and family as well.

Additional Ways to Support

Additional Ways to Support

There are many ways to support An Orphan’s Dream.

We are looking forward to the day when every child is fully sponsored. But, if you are not able to fully sponsor a child each month, there are still ways to support our mission. You can make a one-time donation for any amount. You can also make a monthly donation of $25$50$75or $100, or you can explore additional ways to give.

Summer 2019 Update

Dear Orphan’s Dream Community,

Receive summer greetings from Oasis kids and staff. We trust you are all well in the Lord.

Three months ago,  Oasis decided to hire a qualified teacher (tutor) who could help our kids in tackling academic challenges. Her name is teacher Joyce. We had discovered a need after analyzing the academic trends with our kids. The best solution was to hire our own tutor who could ensure that every child got special attention.

Joyce has been very instrumental to the success of our kids in school. She has been able to handle each kid one at a time, thus developing a personal relationship. This has helped her discover their strengths and weaknesses at individual levels through coaching and guiding them accordingly.

Within a very short period, we have witnessed a great improvement with our children, especially their desire to study. This is evidenced by their change of attitude towards education. The end of term results are out and our kids are just full of smiles.

In the attached pictures, you will see Agnes, one of our kids, being celebrated by our mothers for being the top girl in their class. Agnes is 9 years and in grade 3 and she managed 670 marks out of the possible 700 (over 95% mean grade). The teachers are so happy at school because our kids have raised the mean grade and the position of the school within the zone.

This is very encouraging and we are praising God for it. You are the key contributors to this success. Halleluyah!! Oasis family appreciates our sponsors and donors for their continuous support to this noble course.  We bought Agnes a beautiful pair of shoes, as you can see in the picture attached, as a way of appreciating her effort. We appreciated others too at different levels. This seems to have motivated them greatly. In the pictures, you will also see girls cutting their strawberry cake and the boys a vanilla cake as part of the celebrations.

God bless you all and keep up the good work of the Lord. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Paul Maringa

Paul, the general manager of Oasis of Peace Orphanage in Kenya provides a tour of the farm. The farm provides valuable food, revenue, and resources for us. It also provides the opportunity for the children to learn the skill of farming.
